Mommy tossed her cookies today for the first time, right around 12:45PM.
Hello world. I’m five weeks and 3 days old today. At this point amniotic fluid has started to be produced, my eyes have started to develop and my umbilical cord has started to form. My hands have started to appear and major organs are now being formed. I’m about the size of an apple seed. Right around this time the two parts of my heart are fusing to form and finally start to beat. I’m busy growing and developing so I’m going to get back to it for now. Talk to you all later.
Emy and Mommy

Look at me, I’m pretending to be the Loch Ness Monster!
The winner of the name that zygote contest is Emy the embryo!
Hi All. My good friends Juts and Ali are having a baby as well and they just had to have a temporary name until they learned the sex. Personally I think it’s a great idea. It feels so cold to refer to the baby as “the baby” or worse, “it.” They say you shouldn’t get attached so early but who are they kidding, you’re attached from the moment you know. so Justin and Ali decided on Ziggy the Zygote (Ziggy for short) which I think was brilliant. Fun, playful and fairly gender-neutral.
And thus I charge you, dear readers (hi Mom) to help me come up with our own “ziggy” nickname which we will use throughout the pregnancy.
Ever the entrepreneurs, we’re not counting out sponsors. Want our baby’s nickname to be your company name, with repeated exposure on one of Newberry’s most trafficked blogs? Call me. I’m talking to you, Amazon.
Well we’re back. Those of you that know us know that we had a rough go of things the first time around, but we’ve gone through months of “exercise” and have done it again. And this time, we mean business.
According to several trusted NASA scientists who specialize in this sort of thing, we’re slated for a Christmas baby. Probably not day of, but who can tell with these things.
We’ve decided we’re going to have Christmas at our house this year. Well, actually we didn’t decide, it sort of just has to be that way.
So here’s what we know right now. Aunt Flo didn’t show up and repeated pregnancy tests give the “you’re pregnant” plus sign. That’s just about it. I think the baby is 4 weeks now? 5? 3? Anyone? Our first appointment with the “Doctor” (read: Nurse who asks you a billion questions) is May 4th, 2007 and a week or so later we should see the real doctor. It shouldn’t be too long after that before we have sonograms, as the doctor wants to keep a very close eye on things this time.
Obviously with what happened before our optimism is guarded, but don’t let that fool you- we’re as happy as clams over here and we can’t wait for all the excitement to come.
As for the nitty gritty and what stage of ‘friut’ we’re at, well I’ll have to leave that to Steph to explain. So long for now!
